Sarasota in Defense of Animals (SDA) will host a fundraising Croquet Soiree from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 21, in the Edson Keith Mansion at Phillippi Estate Park in Sarasota, the nonprofit has announced.

The event will feature a croquet tournament, a dog house building and design competition, craft beers and liquors, hors d’oeuvres, “great eats,” an open bar, live music, an auction, and a raffle. “Lawn party” attire is preferred, a flyer notes.

SDA will be celebrating “27 years of caring for so many rescued, abused & abandoned animals that have been lucky enough to call [the organization’s Sarasota facility] their home!” the flyer says.

SDA has provided lifetime care for more than 200 animals, board members point out. It also works with Sarasota County Animal Services to save animals’ lives, and it conducts a public feral-cat trapping program, among other activities, a news release says.

General admission is $100 per person. To purchase a ticket, click on this link. Sponsorships also are available.
