Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Ron Turner is reminding citizens who reside within Florida House District 72 that Monday, Nov. 6, will be the last day to register to vote in the district’s Special Democratic Primary.

The primary is scheduled for Dec. 5.

Turner said new voter registration applications and party change applications must be completed, signed and returned in person or postmarked by the Nov. 6 deadline, as noted in a news release. An application also may be submitted online at www.registertovoteFlorida.gov or through any driver’s license or tax collector’s office that issues Florida driver licenses or Florida ID cards, the release points out.

Voters who have moved or changed names and those who need to update their signatures since the last election also may complete a voter registration application to provide that new information for their records, the release adds.

Signature updates must be received by the elections office prior to the start of the canvass of vote-by-mail ballots, which will be conducted on Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 8:30 a.m., the release says. Address and name changes may be made at any time prior to voting.

Once an application has been processed and approved, the elections office will notify the voter of his/her eligibility by sending the person a Voter Information Card that includes the voter’s precinct and other important information, the release points out.

Applications are available at all three elections offices — in Sarasota, Venice and North Port — as well as at public libraries, military recruitment offices and public assistance offices, and they may be downloaded at www.SarasotaVotes.com, the release says.

Finally, Turner recommends that voters confirm before the Nov. 6 voter registration deadline that they are registered to vote and that their voter registration information is current by calling the Supervisor of Elections Office at 861-8619 or by visiting www.SarasotaVotes.com.
