Street closures announced for Saturday in preparation for Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade

Vehicles to be towed if necessary, Police Department says

The annual Downtown Sarasota Holiday Parade will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at 7 p.m., beginning at the intersection of Main Street and U.S. 301 in Sarasota, the Sarasota Police Department has announced.

It will end at J.D. Hamel Park, located at the intersection of Main Street and Gulfstream Avenue.
Several vehicle tow-away zones and street closure notices will be in effect for the following times, a news release points out:

• From 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3: Main Street closed from U.S. 301 to U.S. 41.
• From 7 a.m. on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday: Audubon Place closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
• From noon on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday: Fletcher Avenue closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
• From noon on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday: Wallace Avenue closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
• From noon on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday: East Avenue closed from Fruitville Road to Ringling Boulevard.
• From noon on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday: School Avenue closed from Main Street to Fruitville Road.
• From 2:30 p.m. on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday: Lemon Avenue closed from First Street to Main Street.
• From 3 p.m. on Saturday to 12:30 a.m. on Sunday: Gulfstream Avenue closed from U.S. 41 to McAnsh Square.

Roads will re-open after the last parade entry reaches a distance two blocks from each road closure, a news release says.

Vehicles not removed by the posted times above will be towed at the owners’ expense, the release emphasizes. For information on towed vehicles, the release says the public should contact Upman’s Towing at 365-7084.
