City of Sarasota announces garbage collection changes for Thanksgiving

Other holiday schedule modifications planned

City of Sarasota solid waste collection schedules will be modified next week as a result of the Thanksgiving holiday, the city has announced.

No garbage, recycling or yard waste pickup will be conducted on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 26, a city news release says.

The collection schedule will be modified as follows:

  • The Thursday collection will occur one day later, on Friday, Nov. 27
  • The Friday collection will take place one day later, on Saturday, Nov. 28.

City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Thursday and Friday in observance of Thanksgiving, the release continues. All offices will reopen on Monday, Nov. 30.

Among other facets of the city holiday schedule are the following:

  • The Bobby Jones Golf Club, located at 1000 Circus Blvd., will host the Seventh Annual Turkey Shoot starting at 8:45 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
  • The Lido Pool, located at 400 Benjamin Franklin Drive, will be open on Thanksgiving Day and Nov. 27 from 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • The Robert L. Taylor Community Complex, located at 1845 34th St., will be closed Thanksgiving Day. Regular hours of operation will resume on Friday, Nov. 27: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
