The City of Sarasota will continue its longstanding tradition of celebrating Arbor Day with a tree-planting ceremony this week, the city has announced.

This year’s event will be conducted on Friday, April 27, at 9 a.m. at Eastwood Park, which is located at 422 N. Cornelius Circle, a news release says. A southern magnolia tree will be planted.

Representatives from the Florida Forest Service and the City of Sarasota Parks and Recreation Department will present “to discuss the importance of trees in the community and the impact on quality of life,” the release adds.

This is the 32nd year the Arbor Day Foundation has recognized Sarasota as a Tree City USA, the release notes.

Eastwood Park recently was renovated with a new neighborhood soccer field, which was unveiled a couple of weeks ago, the release adds.
