Members of the public are welcome to learn what is new in the planning process for the future public library in Venice when Sarasota County staff hosts a community update next week, the county has announced.

Two 90-minute sessions have been scheduled on Thursday, Dec. 8, to give interested persons the opportunity to hear from Sweet Sparkman Architects about its work on the plans for the future library, a county news release says. The meetings will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 6 to 7:30 p.m., the release notes.

The sessions will be held at the Venice Community Center in Conference Room D, the release continues. The center is located at 326 Nokomis Ave. S. in Venice.

Sweet Sparkman of Sarasota won the county contract to design the new facility on Venice’s Cultural Campus.

Library planner Dick Waters will also discuss findings from the community focus meetings held this summer, the release adds.

“The same update is being offered at both the morning and afternoon sessions to accommodate as many community members as possible,” the release explains. An RSVP is preferred but not required, it adds.
