On Monday, Oct. 10, members of the public are encouraged to join members of the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) as it holds a 7 p.m. forum for the candidates campaigning to represent District One on the County Commission.

Democrat Fredd Atkins and Republican Mike Moran have been invited to attend the event, a news release says.

All county voters will be able to cast ballots to select the winner of this race in the November General Election, the release points out.

William Zoller will moderate the forum.

“Using atypical question formats and timing, CONA makes an effort to provide its members and the public with a more thorough understanding of the positions of each candidate than usually achieved at candidate forums,” the release adds.

The forum will be preceded by a brief discussion by Control Growth Now President Dan Lobeck about the county’s Comprehensive Plan Update, the release notes.

“Since videos of our meetings are posted quickly to the CONA website and archived, all of the organization’s 2016 candidate forums and discussions will be available through the election in November,” the release adds. See www.conasarasota.org/meetings for more about CONA.

A social will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 10, followed by the forum at 7 p.m.

CONA meets at the Sarasota Garden Club, located at 1131 Boulevard of the Arts in Sarasota; it is at the intersection of U.S. 41, south of the Municipal Auditorium. Parking and the entrance are reached from Van Wezel Way.
