Sarasota County and Manasota SCORE representatives are teaming up to present a workshop aimed at helping anyone interested in opening a business or making changes to an existing business, SCORE has announced.

The free program, with the title Doing Business: Sarasota County, has been designed to provide an overview of services and information on business regulatory guidelines, a news release explains. The featured panel will include representatives from the Sarasota County Tax Collector’s Office and the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, along with staff from the county’ Planning and Development, Procurement and Public Utilities departments, the release adds.

The workshop will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Dec. 6 at Frances T. Bourne Jacaranda Library, located at 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd. in Venice. A live video feed of the event will be shown at Selby Library, located at 1331 First St. in Sarasota.

Panelists will provide answers to questions about building permits; occupancy; health, fire and environmental regulations; tax requirements; land use and development; and state regulatory and licensing information. “You will also learn about Sarasota County’s procurement process and how your business can sell goods and services to the county,” the release points out.

Questions will be taken from the audience members at both locations, and refreshments will be provided at both venues — by the Friends of the Selby Public Library and the Friends of the Jacaranda Library, the release notes.

The workshop is being sponsored by Sarasota County Libraries and Historical Resources Department, the Sarasota County Office of Business and Economic Development and Manasota SCORE.
