Lamarque Elementary School to host runners’ events on Feb. 27

The Lion 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will be held at Lamarque Elementary School in North Port on Saturday, Feb. 27, the Sarasota County School District has announced.

Proceeds from the Fun Run will go toward student programs and to finish up the playground sunshades project, a news release says. Interested business partners may contact Mindy Long at mindy.long@sarasotacountyschools.net, the release adds.

Registration for runners is available in the Announcements section of the Lamarque Elementary School website, the release notes. Registration is $12 for runners 18 and younger; $25 for runners 19 and older; $20 for Manasota Track Club members; and $60 for up to six family members in the same household, the release continues.

Roads closures on the day of the race will be as follows: Lamarque Avenue, Thisbe Street, Sardinia Avenue, Pincushion Street, East Eldron Avenue and the north side of La Rocha Street, the release says.
