During its next public meeting, set for Oct. 25, the City of Sarasota’s Lift Station 87 project team will review proposed landscaping plans for the building that will be erected in Luke Wood Park, the city has announced.

The session will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the SRQ Media Studio, located at 1565 First St. in downtown Sarasota, a news release says.

The team also will provide an update on the maintenance-of-traffic plan that has been in place since the Osprey Bridge closed on Aug. 1, the release notes. Additionally, the team will review the schedule for Phase 1 of the project: microtunneling under Hudson Bayou. Phase 1 is under construction and on schedule for completion in mid-2017, the release points out.

After it has been completed, the Lift Station 87 project will improve wastewater service and reliability for City of Sarasota customers and protect the environment, the release continues. The new lift station will replace Lift Station 7, located at 935 Pomelo Ave., with wastewater flow redirected from Lift Station 7 to Lift Station 87.

Lift Station 87 is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2020, the release adds.
