Feel the Bern SRQ, a grassroots organization that supports and campaigns for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders, will host a March for Bernie 2 on Saturday, Feb. 27, from noon to 4 p.m. in downtown Sarasota, the organization has announced.

This event will be part of a nationwide day of marches for the candidate, a news release points out.

Local facilitator Mark Manning invites local groups, organizations and unions to “march with us and make the community aware of our growing progressive movement.”

Groups wishing to participate need to pre-register by Feb. 23 at www.feelthebernsrq.com, the release stresses.

“Bernie Sanders has inspired millions of Americans to come together,” Manning noted in the release. “At the local level, we encourage our community to unite in common cause and educate others about important social and political issues.”

Participants should gather at noon in Links Plaza Park (at the southwest corner of Main Street and Links Avenue). The march will proceed from there to the Unconditional Surrender statue in Island Park on the city’s bayfront, with stops along Main Street, the release adds.

Manning encourages participants to bring “their signs, shirts, and banners to promote their cause.”
