In the absence of lap swimming hours at Arlington Park — while the pools are being resurfaced — Miracle Swimming for Adults has opened its McIntosh Road pool for lap swimming at specific hours, the nonprofit has announced.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Monday/Wednesday/Friday — 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday/Thursday — 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
  • Saturday — 10 a.m. to noon.
  • Sunday — 8 to 10 a.m.

Drop-in swims are $6, a news release says. Exact change is appreciated, the release adds. The Miracle Swimming for Adults pool is outdoors; it has six lanes, it is 25 meters long and it is “serene,” the release points out.

The pool is located at 582 McIntosh Road, behind the former Jewish Community Center. The entrance to the property is across the street from West Lake Way in Sherwood Estates.

Guests may park in the far back lot on the left, the release notes. Visitors are advised to walk through the gate, turn right and then “walk 60 seconds to the pool, hugging the fence and building.”

Sarasota County spokesman Drew Winchester told The Sarasota News Leader on April 26 that the City of Sarasota project at Arlington Park tentatively is scheduled to begin with the dewatering process on April 28. May 25 as the target date to reopen the pool, he added, based on a timeline city staff provided.
