Official sample ballots for the Aug. 14 primary election will be mailed to all registered voters beginning Tuesday, July 24, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent has announced.

The primary ballot includes three “Universal Primary Contests,” Dent’s office said in a news release: (Charter Review Board Districts 1, 3 and 4). Universal Primary Contests will appear on all ballots  — Democratic, Republican and non-partisan.

In addition, Republican ballots will contain races for U.S. senator, state attorney for the 12th Judicial Circuit, supervisor of elections, and County Commission District 5. Democrats’ ballots will include a race for U.S. senator, and those who reside in the City of North Port will be able to vote in races for North Port commissioner seats 1, 2 and 3.

Voters may preview their sample ballots, mark their choices, then take the sample ballots with them to their polling places on election day or during early voting (Aug 4-11), the news release notes.

Voters also may view their personalized sample ballots on the SOE website at www.SarasotaVotes.com. (Click on the sample ballot link under “News Briefs” on the homepage and follow the instructions, the release adds.)

Voters should check their new voter information cards for important information about their voting districts, polling locations and party affiliation, the news release notes. Voters who have questions may contact the Supervisor of Elections Office at 861-8600.
