Search under way for missing, endangered adult

Eddie Lee Dejerinett

The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing 82-year-old man who was last seen in the 3200 block of Leonard Reid Avenue in Sarasota this morning, Aug. 8, the office has announced.

Eddie Lee Dejerinett Sr. was wearing a gray suit and a black hat when he left his home around 10 a.m. to go to church and the library, a Sheriff’s Office report says. He was driving a 1999 white Lincoln Continental with a Florida tag, L412JD.

“Dejerinett has dementia and is a member of Project Lifesaver, so he wears a special bracelet with a small transmitter which emits a signal that law enforcement can track,” a news release says. While that resource is being implemented, the Sheriff’s Office also is asking residents to be on the lookout for Dejerinett and his vehicle.

The Sheriff’s Office is working with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement regarding a Silver Alert, a news release says. Anyone who sees Dejerinett or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 or the non-emergency number, 941-316-1201.
