Section is between Hawthorne and Arlington streets
If you travel Orange Avenue just south of Sarasota Memorial Hospital, expect a slight detour next week that will continue for a few days, the Sarasota city manager has announced.
Starting Monday, June 13, one block of Orange Avenue — between Hawthorne and Arlington streets — will be temporarily closed for about three days for road work, City Manager Tom Barwin wrote in his weekly newsletter, dated June 10.
An electronic message board announcing the situation is in place near Orange Avenue to advise motorists, Barwin added.
“We understand this is a major north-south travel pattern for many motorists, and we’ll do our best” to ensure the roadway is reopened by Thursday, June 16, he added.
