Sarasota County Sheriff Tom Knight has promoted eight employees to new ranks in the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office to fill vacancies created by retirements and organizational changes, the office recently announced.

The following people were recognized:

  • Lt. Tim Enos, who joined the agency in 1993, was promoted to the rank of captain and will serve as the Emergency Operations Bureau commander, the release says. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Florida State University and is a graduate of the Command Officer Development Course offered through the Southern Police Institute, the release adds.
  • Media Relations Specialist Kaitlyn Johnston was promoted to community affairs director, the release continues. Johnston, who joined the agency in 2014, is the agency’s public information officer. She holds a bachelor’s degree in communications with a minor in criminology from the University of South Florida.
  • In the Law Enforcement Division, Sgts. Bryan Ivings, Donny Kennard and Brian Gregory were promoted to the rank of lieutenant, assigned to the Patrol Bureau, the release notes. Det. Matt Tuggle and Deputies Gregory Cramer and James Darby were promoted to the rank of sergeant and also assigned to the Patrol Bureau, the release adds.

“The men and women promoted [on May 5] are an outstanding representation of this agency,” Knight said in the release. “I have no doubt that in these leadership roles, they will continue to make their community very proud.”
