The Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has received the Seven Seals Award from Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, Sheriff Tom Knight has announced.

“ESGR promotes cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their employers,” a news release explains. “The Seven Seals Award is the broadest and most inclusive award given by ESGR in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement, initiative or support that promotes and supports the ESGR mission,” the release adds.

During the Dec. 4 presentation, David McCormick of the Florida ESGR Committee said, “The entire culture of the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office supports the military and is a role model for other employers whose members serve in the Guard and Reserve.”

Because military deployments affect an entire organization, the Sheriff’s Office employees were commended “for filling the void during the absence of their colleagues,” the release adds.
