Starting Monday, July 25, southbound traffic on Orange Avenue between Bay Point (just south of Hudson Bayou) and Alta Vista Street will be reduced to one lane for three days for street repairs, Sarasota City Manager Tom Barwin has announced.

The northbound lane will remain open during the project, Barwin pointed out in his weekly newsletter, dated July 15.

Detours are expected to be in effect for three days, Barwin wrote.

“As we endeavor to coordinate Utilities and Public Works projects to lessen traffic inconvenience as much as possible,” street repairs on Orange Avenue will need to be done before Osprey Avenue closes next month for the Lift Station 87 project, Barwin wrote.

Southbound traffic will be detoured to Osprey Avenue, Barwin noted, “and a flag person will be on site to facilitate traffic flow.”

The road is scheduled to reopen completely on Thursday, July 28, he wrote.
