No parking will be allowed in the alley, and all traffic will be prohibited during two phases of work

From 7 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 29 to Oct. 14, no parking will be allowed in the alley adjacent to the Wells Fargo Bank at 300 Madison Drive on St. Armands Circle, the City of Sarasota has announced.

The city’s Public Works Department will be reconstructing the alley, a news release says. The parking prohibition has been planned so solid waste collection and two-way traffic will not be impeded, the release explains.

Segments of the alley will be completely closed to traffic during two separate phases of the project, the release notes:

  • From Aug 29 until Friday, Sept. 16, the affected section will stretch from Madison Drive to the rear of 367 St. Armand’s Circle.
  • From Monday, Sept. 19, until Friday, Oct. 14, the affected segment will extend from Washington Drive to the rear of 367 St. Armand’s Circle.

City staff is reminding the public that these closures may be modified as a result of weather conditions or early completion of a phase. “All efforts will be made to move this project along as quickly as possible in order to minimize any inconvenience,” the release points out.
