The SunCoast Alliance for Lifelong Learning (SCALL), a non-profit entity committed to promoting and enhancing the region’s lifelong learning opportunities, will present its premiere event, the Lifelong Learning Showcase, on Friday, Sept. 16, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Suncoast Technical College, SCALL has announced.

The college is located at 4748 Beneva Road in Sarasota.

The event, which also will be a fundraiser for SCALL, has been designed to provide participants a sampling of the lifelong learning opportunities offered by SCALL’s founding organizations, a news release explains.

The event will include 24 course sessions; participants may attend four of them, the release notes. Tickets, which are $79, cover refreshments, lunch, the four showcase sessions and a keynote address by Dr. Alan Grindal on the proven benefits of lifelong learning, the release says.

Tickets are limited, the release points out. Registration, which is required, is open through Wednesday, Sept. 14. People interested in attending the Showcase are encouraged to register early at SunCoastlifelonglearning.org or by calling the Adult and Community Enrichment (ACE) office at Suncoast Technical College at 361-6590.

The 24 course sessions will be led by educators and experts from ACE, the Ringling College Lifelong Learning Academy and Pierian Spring Academy, the release adds. The topics will range from Gardening Delights to Nobel Prize History and Politics.
