Supervisor of elections schedules voter registration drives Sept. 21-25

Morgue file image of person voting in 2012In observance of National Voter Registration Day, which is Tuesday, Sept. 22, the Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office (SOE) will conduct a number of voter drives during the week of Sept. 21-25, the office has announced.

“Every year, citizens forfeit the right to vote because they do not register or they register too late,” Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent said in a news release. “In recognition of the 2015 National Voter Registration campaign, we want to highlight the importance of participating in the electoral process and give people another opportunity to register or to update their voter records prior to the 2016 election cycle,” she said.

The following voter registration drives are scheduled:

Monday, Sept. 21

• State College of Florida, 8000 S. Tamiami Trail, Venice – 9 a.m. to noon.

• Elsie Quirk Library, 101 W. Dearborn St, Englewood – 2-4 p.m.

Tuesday, Sept. 22

• Sarasota Military Academy – 9:30-11:30 a.m.

• Riverview High School – 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

• Jacaranda Library, 4143 Woodmere Park Blvd., Venice – 10 a.m. to noon.

• Venice Library, 300 Nokomis Avenue S., Venice – 2-4 p.m. 

Wednesday, Sept. 23

• Venice High School – 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

• Suncoast Polytechnical High School – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 24

Venice High School – 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sarasota High School – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, Sept. 25

Sarasota High School – 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
