On Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., members of the public will be able to get free COVID-19 antibody tests as part of a OneBlood blood drive, the City of Sarasota has announced.

Appointments are required, a news release notes, adding that the last appointment will be made for 3:45 p.m. The public is invited to register here.

Each donor will receive two pairs of OneBlood cancer awareness socks and a $10 eGift card, plus a wellness checkup, including blood pressure, temperature, iron count, pulse and cholesterol screening, the release says

“Do not present to donate if you have a fever,” the release cautions. “You must wait at least 14 days before donating if you have been exposed to someone who has or may have COVID-19,” or if you have recently been tested and are awaiting the results for COVID-19, or if you have an active case of COVID-19, the release stresses.

When visiting Bobby Jones Golf Club for the blood donation, the release continues, people must wear masks and follow (CDC) U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, including social distancing and limiting large gatherings.
