Forty Carrots Family Center, a local nonprofit dedicated to strengthening families, will provide free parenting education and mental health services in Sarasota and Manatee counties, thanks to the support of two recent grants, it has announced.

An award of $5,000 from Designing Women will enable Forty Carrots to offer weekly group therapy support to mothers enrolled in The Salvation Army’s Pathways of Hope program, which will help them work toward self-sufficiency, a news release says. Additionally, a gift of $4,000 from the Weichel Family Fund and Wells Fargo Fund of the Manatee Community Foundation will underwrite Partners In Play parenting classes at Braden River Public Library during the summer months, allowing parents and children to learn and grow together, the release adds.

“The broad reach of Forty Carrots’ free programs is only possible because of the generous support of many grantors and donors, including Designing Women and Manatee Community Foundation,” said Michelle Kapreilian, Forty Carrots’ executive director, in the release. “We are grateful beyond words for the investment these two granting organizations have made in stronger families and a stronger community.”

Each year, the Forty Carrots Family Center supports more than 1,000 free parenting education and mental health therapy groups throughout Sarasota and Manatee counties. To learn more, visit www.fortycarrots.org.
