City and county administrative offices to be closed on Labor Day, Sept. 3

City and County of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 3, in observance of Labor Day, the local governments have announced.

Additionally,the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County will be closed that day, a county news release notes.

No garbage, recycling or yard waste collections will be made on Monday, Sept. 3, in either the city or the unincorporated areas of the county, news releases point out.. Pickups will be delayed by one day throughout the week in the city and the county, the releases say.

All Sarasota County libraries and recreational centers will be closed Sept. 3, and Sarasota County Area Transit (SCAT) buses will not operate that day, the county news release adds. However, the Siesta Key Breeze open-air trolley will be operating from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sept. 3, the county release points out.

The regular City Commission meeting will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 4, at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. in the Commission Chambers at City Hall, located at 1565 First St. in downtown Sarasota.

The Central County Landfill, located at 4000 Knights Trail Road in Nokomis, as well as the Sarasota County Chemical Collection Center, located at 8750 Bee Ridge Road in Sarasota, and the Citizens Convenience Center, located at 4010 Knights Trail Road, Nokomis, will be closed on Sept. 3.
