The State of Florida COVID-19 testing site near the Mall at University Town Center (UTC) has begun offering antibody testing for free, Sarasota County staff has announced.

The antibody testing is available for adults 18 and older, with valid identification, a news release points out.

No appointments or prescriptions are needed, the release adds.

The testing is administered via blood draw, and results are available within 15 minutes, the release continues. “Those tested will have the option to remain on-site for their results.”

Total capacity is about 200 antibody tests per day, the release notes.

In addition, the site will continue testing for COVID-19 active virus, with a capacity of 1,200 tests per day.

“Anyone over the age of 18 can be tested for COVID-19 at this site, regardless of symptoms,” the release points out.

The site also has a lane dedicated to the prioritization of symptomatic, vulnerable and pediatric populations who meet the following criteria:

  • Ages 5-17 (with legal guardian) and 65 or older, regardless of symptoms.
  • Those ages 18-64 with symptoms.

The UTC site’s operational hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week.

Vehicles must have fully operational windows and air conditioning, the release stresses. Children ages 17 and younger must be accompanied by a legal guardian.
