The Siesta Key Condominium Council and the Sarasota County Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) will co-sponsor a Sarasota County Candidates Forum focused on the District 4 County Commission seat on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 6 p.m. in the Gulf & Bay Clubhouse.

The clubhouse is located at 5730 Midnight Pass Road on Siesta Key. Free parking is available on-site.

“Last month, we emailed an invitation to Commissioner [Alan] Maio and Wesley Beggs. Wesley Beggs accepted our invitation,” an Oct. 23 update from the two nonprofits says.

“We thereafter sent a letter to Commissioner Maio inviting him to participate in this candidates forum in his District,” the update adds. After not receiving a response, a representative of the Condominium Council called Maio’s office and spoke with his administrative assistant, the update notes. “We recently were informed that Commissioner Maio has a conflict and cannot attend [the forum],” the update points out.

“We continue to encourage Commissioner Maio to attend,” the update adds.

Irrespective of whether Commissioner Maio attends the event, the update says, the Commissioner Candidates Forum will be held.

The forum is open to the public.
