The 13th Annual Master Gardener Plant Sale and EdFest will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 13 at the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (UF/IFAS) Extension Program’s Sarasota County office and grounds, the organizers have announced.

The UF/IFAS facilities are located at Twin Lakes Park, which stands at 6700 Clark Road in Sarasota.

At this family-friendly event, attendees “may choose from among hundreds of shrubs, trees, palms, annuals, herbs and other plant varieties identified as ‘Florida-friendly’ by the University of Florida,” a news release says. They also may seek gardening and landscaping advice from Extension-trained Master Gardeners, the release notes.

“EdFest booths and demonstrations will highlight the array of programs and services offered through Extension, from gardening advice to youth development,” the release adds.

Admission will be free, the release says. Plant purchases will necessitate payments by cash or check, it points out.

Proceeds from sales will benefit the Sarasota County Master Gardener program’s efforts to support school gardens and community projects, the release explains.
