Participants can earn gifts, depending on number of walks completed

Sarasota County’s Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department staff has announced the return “of the popular sunrise beach walks” on Siesta and Nokomis beaches.
The walks will be held every Wednesday and Thursday through Thursday, March 27, at Siesta and Nokomis beaches, a news release notes.
“Enjoy a fun and energizing start to the day with this community-favorite event,” the staff invites the public.” For just a one-time registration fee of $5,” the release says, each participant will receive a punch card and have an opportunity to receive an event T-shirt and gift from the Florida Department of Health.
The following are more details:
- Wednesdays at Siesta Beach — Register and check in at the main pavilion, which stands at 948 Beach Road on Siesta.
- Thursdays at Nokomis Beach — Register and check in at the plaza classroom, which is located at 100 Casey Key Road in Nokomis.
- Walk at least 1 mile and check in between 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. “to have your card punched.”
Anyone who completes four walks will earn a T-shirt, the release notes; those who complete eight walks will receive a gift from the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County, the release adds.
