Multiple payment options available

Sarasota County Tax Collector Mike Moran is reminding property owners with unpaid 2024 taxes to take advantage of one of the various payment options to avoid additional charges before taxes become delinquent on April 1, his staff announced this week.
“The quickest and easiest way to pay is at www.SarasotaTaxCollector.gov,” Moran explained in a news release. “Online payments must be made by 11:59 pm (EDT) on Monday, March 31st,” the release emphasizes.
Other payment options are as follows:
- 24-hour drop box— checks only must be deposited in a 24-hour drop box at the following locations: downtown Sarasota at the Terrace Building entrance on Adams Lane; at the main entrance of the Mid-County office; at the main entrance of the Anderson Administration Center in Venice (facing U.S. 41); and at North Port City Hall in the bypass lane of the utility payment drive-through.
- Mail— envelope postmarked by Monday, March 31, sent to 101 S. Washington Blvd., Sarasota FL 34236, with check payable to Sarasota County Tax Collector.
- In person— by scheduling an appointment at www.SarasotaTaxCollector.gov.
“The penalty for missing the deadline is no small matter,” the release stresses. “Accounts unpaid as of April 1st are delinquent and a penalty is added. On May 1st, additional fees are charged, and accounts are advertised pursuant to Florida law,” the release points out. “If the taxes remain unpaid, the amount due will increase substantially on June 1st,” the release notes.
“Visit www.facebook.com/SarasotaTaxCollector for office updates and information,” the release adds.
