Sheriff’s Office again seeking public help to make an arrest

Mirroring a late June incident, another robbery was reported during the afternoon of Friday, July 18, at the USF Credit Union located at 3487 Clark Road, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office has reported.
Just as in the June 20 incident, the report on the July 18 robbery said that a dark-skinned male entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. The man then left the business and ran northbound toward Bronx Avenue. No one was injured and an undisclosed amount of money was taken, the report added.
The news release about the June 20 robbery provided the very same information: A dark-skinned male “entered the bank and demanded money from a teller. He then left the business and ran northbound towards Bronx Avenue. No one was injured and an undisclosed amount of money was taken.”

As The Sarasota News Leader noted after the first incident, the credit union stands west of the intersection of Clark and Beneva roads; it is east of South Lockwood Ridge Road, a map shows. Bronx Avenue is a neighborhood street that runs between Clark Road and Fox Run Road to the north.
The building stands on a parcel that comprises not quite 0.9 acres, as noted in the Sarasota County Property Appraiser’s Office records.
“The investigation is ongoing,” the July 18 Sheriff’s Office advisory said.
When the News Leader inquired the morning of Juily 24 about any update in the case, Matthew Binkley, the Sheriff’s Office’s community affairs manager, responded via email that no new information was available.
“Anyone with information regarding this crime is encouraged to contact the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Section at 941-861-4900 or CrimeStoppers at 941-366-8477,” the advisory adds.
