Three suspects detained
Just after 11 p.m. on Aug. 10, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office announced that agency personnel are investigating a shooting that occurred in the area of River Boulevard South and Florence Street in Nokomis.
Three persons of interest have been identified, with two in custody at that time, the advisory said. “This incident appears to be isolated in nature at this time,” it added.

In response to a Sarasota News Leader Aug. 13 inquiry about any new information regarding the investigation, Matthew Binkley, manager of community affairs for the Sheriff’s Office, reported that all three suspects in the case “have been detained.” Nonetheless, he added, the investigation is ongoing.
