Opening reception to be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m.

As part of its centennial season, Art Center Sarasota will present an expanded edition of its Annual Members Juried Show, the organization has announced. That exhibit will be on view from Jan. 22 through Feb. 21, a news release says.
Moreover, in recognition of the organization’s 100th anniversary, the exhibition will span all four gallery spaces, “offering a celebratory reflection on a century of art and community in Sarasota,” the release points out.
The Annual Members Juried Show will put the proverbial spotlight on “the wide-ranging talent of Art Center Sarasota’s member artists,” the release continues. “Free of a unifying theme,” it will feature work across painting, sculpture, fiber, collage and mixed media, “moving fluidly between abstraction and realism to capture the breadth of contemporary artistic practice,” the release adds..
Central to the exhibition is its format, the release notes: Every Art Center Sarasota member who submits artwork is guaranteed inclusion. “This approach underscores the organization’s long-standing commitment to accessibility and artistic equity, while creating a dynamic, multi-voiced exhibition experience,” the release points out.
“As we mark 100 years of art in Sarasota, it felt important for this year’s Members Juried Show to fully reflect the scope and diversity of our artist community,” said Christina Baril, curator and director of exhibitions, in the release. “The work on view speaks to the creativity and dedication of the artists who have sustained this organization across generations,” Baril added.

“The exhibition is juried by Willem van Osnabrugge, an artist and educator whose career bridges science and fine art,” the release continues. “A former creative perfumer, van Osnabrugge later became deeply involved with Art Center Sarasota, serving as both an exhibition installer and president before focusing fully on his artistic practice. His pastel and oil paintings have received recognition in Florida, England, and Holland,” the release notes.
A free opening reception will be held on Thursday, Jan. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m., the release adds.
All works in the exhibition will be available for purchase, it points out.
Art Center Sarasota is located at 707 N. Tamiami Trail in downtown Sarasota.
