The Black Honkeys to present musical entertainment
Nathan Benderson Park (NBP) will launch Fiesta! Fridays on Oct. 23, featuring waterfront entertainment, food, drink and exhibitors on Regatta Island, the Suncoast Aquatic Nature Center Associates Inc. (SANCA) has announced.
Each Fiesta! Friday will run from 5:30 to 9 p.m., a news release points out.
As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the release explains, a portion of the Oct. 23 proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society for the fight against breast cancer.
Musical entertainment for the first event will be presented by The Black Honkeys, “a regional favorite playing a mix of Motown, funk, rock and soul,” the release notes.
Tickets, which are limited, may be pre-purchased through the park’s website, nathanbendersonpark.org, the release adds. Tickets are $10 each for those ages 15 and older; admission is free for youth and children age 14 and younger. Parking is free.
The restriction on ticket totals “will help ensure social distancing, organizers said.”
The Honkeys first appeared at the park during the 2019 NBP Fireworks On The Lake, the release says. The band was the closing act, coming on stage after the fireworks display.
“The nine-piece band, voted ‘Best In The Bay,’ features world-renowned percussionist Gumbi Ortiz and the Ebony and Ivory Horn Section in what the band calls a ‘high-energy, good fun’ show,” the release points out.
NBP Fiesta! Fridays also are scheduled for Nov. 13 and Dec. 18, and in 2021 on Jan. 22, Feb. 12 and March 19.
