At concluding ceremony, Big Bill Foundation to present scholarships to survivors of childhood cancer
The third annual Big Bill Big 5K will take place at a new location, the Robinson Preserve in Bradenton, on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, the organizers have announced.
The Preserve is located at 1704 99th St. Northwest in Bradenton.
The event, which will begin at 8 a.m., will benefit the Big Bill Foundation, which was created in memory of Bradenton native and co-founder of Fit2Run, Bill Robinson, a news release points out. Robinson lost his battle with leukemia in 2020, at the age of 70, the release adds.
“The Big Bill Foundation’s mission is to provide scholarships to survivors of childhood cancer,” the release explains. “At this year’s Big Bill Big 5K, multiple scholarships will be awarded during a heartfelt ceremony,” the release adds. Each of those honored “will be presented with a scholarship check and will be recognized for their perseverance and bravery,” the release points out.
In addition to the scholarships, awards and various prizes will be presented to the race winners, the release notes.
Fit2Time is the race management division of Fit2Run, the release also points out.
To stay up-to-date “with all things races,” the release suggests that individuals follow Fit2Time on social media, @Fit2Time.
