Event to be held at 3 p.m. at Siesta Key Chapel

The first 2026 meeting of the Siesta Key Condominium Council will be conducted on Jan. 13, the organization has announced.
It also will be the first of three in-person sessions next year, the Council notes.
The Council represents 100 condominium associations with more than 7,000 households on Siesta Key.
On Jan. 13, a Council newsletter says, Mike Angers, of the Brown and Brown insurance firm in Sarasota, will present his annual update on condominium insurance issues.
The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. at Siesta Key Chapel, which stands at 4615 Gleason Ave., on the north end of the barrier island, the newsletter points out.
The senior vice president of Brown of Florida, Angers has been a specialist in condominium association insurance in the Sarasota area for 30 years, his company biography notes. He also has been an insurance educator for the State of Florida for more than 20 years, the biography says.
Brown & Brown is the largest writer of insurance for condominium associations in Florida, the biography points out.
Among the topics Brown will address next month are the following, the newsletter adds:
- The current state of the Florida insurance marketplace for island properties.
- New carriers entering the state and whether they are financially stable enough to insure larger associations.
- Ongoing claim problems related to wind and flood damage.
- The top three lessons learned from the 2024 hurricanes, two of which wrought significant damage on Siesta.
- How to put an association in the best possible position to be attractive to insurance carriers.
- An insurance forecast for 2026 and beyond.
The second in-person meeting has been set for Feb. 17, when Sarasota attorney Dan Lobeck will provide his annual update on laws relevant to condominium associations, the newsletter notes.
The third session is scheduled for March 17, when Sarasota County Emergency Management Chief Sandra Tapfumaneyi will discuss hurricane readiness, the newsletter says.
