Next week, Sarasota County Parks, Recreation and Natural Resources Department (PRNR) staff will host two, in-person community meetings to share information on ongoing park projects, the county has announced.

The first meeting has been scheduled at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, at the Osprey Library, which stands at 337 N. Tamiami Trail in Osprey, a news release says. During that session, PRNR staff will share updates and gather public comments “on the waterfront parks in Osprey, including the Osprey Fishing Pier, West Bay Street Park, Bayview Lane Park and Webb Street Park,” the release adds. Further, it notes, “Sarasota County staff will provide a presentation with updates on the hurricane recovery efforts at these park sites and potential improvements for each park.

The second meeting has been set for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 23, at the Old Miakka Schoolhouse, which stands at 15800 Wilson Road in Sarasota, the release continues. During that session, staff will share updates about the improvement project in progress for Old Miakka Preserve, along with follow-up information from the 2022 public meeting on that initiative, the release points out. Attendees also will have the opportunity to see the latest plans for park improvements, including the restrooms, parking area, play equipment, trail expansion and equestrian access, the release says.

No registration is required for these meetings, the release adds.
