City administrative offices to close for Labor Day

Garbage and recyclables collection pushed back one day for customers

The City of Sarasota administrative offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 4, in observation of Labor Day, the city has announced.

Garbage, recycling and yard waste will be collected one day later, a city news release says. For example, the Monday collection will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 5, and the Tuesday collection will be on Wednesday, Sept. 6.

Hours of operation at City of Sarasota recreational facilities will vary on the holiday, as follows:

  • Bobby Jones Golf Club: regular hours: 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  • Children’s Fountain: regular hours: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.(Fall hours will beginon Tuesday, Sept. 5: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
  • Lido Pool: Regular hours: closed.
  • Robert L. Taylor Community Complex: 6 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The regular City Commission meeting will be held one day later than usual — on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 2:30 p.m. and 6 p.m.
