City of Sarasota’s ‘parklets’ to be focus of public meeting on June 21 at City Hall

Staff to make presentation about variety of issues regarding the outdoor dining arrangements in designated parking spaces

On Wednesday, June 21, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the City of Sarasota will host a public meeting regarding parklets, the city has announced.

The session will be conducted in the City Commission chambers at City Hall in downtown Sarasota, a news release says. City Hall is located at 1565 First St. in downtown Sarasota (34236).

“A parklet allows outdoor dining businesses to expand into designated public parking areas,” the release explains.

During the meeting, city staff will discuss parklet standards, parking criteria, aesthetics, permitting and fees, the release points out. In addition, the public will be provided with details about the new guidance and standards being implemented after the six-month extension of the program sunsets on Sept. 30, the release notes.

Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions at the end of the staff presentation, the release says.
