Support Our Schools, a nonprofit based in Sarasota, “and other aligned organizations supporting public education, will host a press conference and rally” on Tuesday, Dec. 12, prior to the 6 p.m. start of the regular meeting of the Sarasota County School Board, Support Our Schools has announced.

Support Our Schools and “many other organizations and individuals are joining together” to call for the resignation of Sarasota resident Bridget Ziegler from the School Board, following her admission of a three-way sexual relationship with another woman and her husband, a news release explains.

In 2014, Ziegler was appointed to the School Board by then-Gov. Rick Scott, following the resignation of long-time board member Carol Todd. Ziegler also has been prominent in the state and nation as one of the founders of the Moms for Liberty organization.

The press conference will begin at 4:30 p.m., the news release notes, with the rally following it.

Support Our Schools (supportourschools.com) “was formed to support Sarasota public schools and ensure a quality education for all children,” the release explains. “We educate the public and advocate on behalf of the public education system. We strongly believe in the power of public education. We believe that all children, regardless of socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, disability, or religion, are entitled to modern education in a safe and inclusive environment. We support our teachers, administrators, and our school board as we work together to provide the highest quality education to all children,” the release adds.
