Chief Troche conducts swearing-in ceremony on Oct. 10

On Friday morning, Oct. 10, Sarasota Police Chief Rex Troche held a ceremony to swear in five new police officers, the Police Department has reported.
The event was held at the agency’s headquarters, which stands on Adams Lane in downtown Sarasota, a news release said.
At the outset of his remarks, Troche called the new officers “five of our best and brightest men and women who have demonstrated the character, commitment and courage necessary to serve and protect our community.”
As he began introducing the group, several audience members began clapping before Troche assured the attendees that clapping was welcome. At that point, the clapping became louder.
After all the officers were standing at the front of the room, facing Troche, he encouraged the audience members to give them one more round of applause.
The following are the new members of the Sarasota Police Department, who have Gabriel Ornellas Victorio,2nd Class probation status, the release added: Savannah Gray, Gabriel Ornellas Victorio, Tristan Sarney, Emilio Suriel and Gabrielle Theofanous.
The men and women will work with field training officers for several months, the release noted.
