“Be a super hero and bring a child to any Sarasota County library Saturday, May 7, for Free Comic Book Day,” Sarasota County staff has announced.

Every young person between the ages of 5 and 18 who visits any county library beginning at 10 a.m. that day will receive a free comic book, while supplies last, a news release says.

The event is part of the international Free Comic Book Day, an effort to get children interested in comics and reading, the release notes. Each year, the Sarasota County Library System partners with local comic book store The Dark Side, and each location’s Friends of the Library organization purchases the comic books that are distributed to youngsters, the release explains.
