Free June 22 Sheriff’s Office presentation on scams and frauds to be held at Temple Emanu-El in Sarasota

Event planned from 6 to 8 p.m.

With fraud having accounted for more than $13 million in financial losses to Sarasota County residents last year, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office Economic Crimes and Crime Prevention units, along with Assistant State Attorney Andrew van Sickle, will present a free, educational seminar later this month to assist the public in recognizing and avoiding trending scams and frauds, the agency has announced.

The two-hour presentation on Thursday, June 22, will feature discussions about various types of scams ,as well as how and when to report them to law enforcement personnel, a news release explains. The seminar will be held at Temple Emanu-El, which is located at 151 McIntosh Road in Sarasota. It will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., the release adds.
