Now that tropical storm warnings and watches have been lifted for Sarasota County, Emergency Management officials have announced resumption of bus service, garbage collection and schools on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

All Sarasota County government offices will reopen Tuesday, a news release says.

Garbage collection in the unincorporated areas of Sarasota County and the cities of North Port and Venice will resume Tuesday and continue through the end of the week. Each pick-up day will be delayed by one day, so customers whose normal pick-up day is Monday will see garbage collected on Tuesday. Collection will continue through the end of the week, the release adds.

Sarasota County Area Transit also will resume normal operations Tuesday.

Beaches remain under red flags, discouraging swimming, until the threat of dangerous rip currents pass, the news release points out. “So far, the storm has caused only minor beach erosion, but county staff will continue to monitor beach conditions,” the release says.

Drawbridges remain closed to marine traffic.

Residents should continue to monitor local news reports for weather changes that may develop as Isaac moves across the Gulf of Mexico, Emergency Management officials warn.
