Next month, Sarasota County’s Public Utilities Department will launch “new user-friendly bill payment options for customers,” the county announced this week.

Starting Wednesday, Sept. 8, a new website will offer a “Pay Now” function, so customers can “make quick payments without registering an account,” the release points out. Enhanced functions for those who do register accounts allow “for greater flexibility to make additional payments using credit or debit cards,” the release says.

Further, the new payment system offers the following features:

  • Autopay and paperless statements.
  • Payment reminders.
  • The ability for a customer to view consumption, payment and bill history.

A new automated phone system also will be available, allowing customers to quickly check their account balances and use debit and credit cards to make payments, the release notes.

Public Utilities Director Mike Mylett says the new system will offer customers a safe, convenient and secure way to pay their bills.

“As an organization, we are always looking for innovative ways to provide the best services to the community,” Mylett pointed out in the release. “This new payment system is user-friendly and convenient, without sacrificing security,” Mylett added.
