With local governments in Florida authorized to continue hosting meetings via video technology through the end of this month, Sarasota residents will be able to provide comments remotely when the City Commission meets Oct. 5 and Oct. 19, the city has announced.

Those interested in participating must pre-register by emailing their request to the City Auditor and Clerk’s Office (clerk@SarasotaFL.gov), a news release points out. Persons then will receive a link to complete an online registration form, and after they are registered, they will receive further instructions and links from city staff on when and how to access the meeting online and participate in it, the release notes.

Gov. Ron DeSantis this week issued an Executive Order that extended the authorization for local governments to meet remotely, using communications media technology, through Nov. 1, the release explains.

Anyone who wishes to participate remotely in the next city Commission meeting, scheduled for 1:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 5, must register via email by 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4, the release says.

Members of the public also may submit written comments in advance of the meeting by emailing clerk@SarasotaFL.gov or by using an online form. Further, public comments may be provided in person during the meeting, at a computer station set up and monitored by staff at City Hall in downtown Sarasota, the release adds.
