Sarasota Police Department collects 44.5 pounds of medications during National Drug Take-Back Initiative

On Saturday, Oct. 27, officers with the Sarasota Police Department Street Crimes Unit collected 44.5 pounds of unused, expired and unwanted prescriptions drugs during the National Drug Take-Back Initiative with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the department has announced.
Members of the DEA will collect the medications that members of the public dropped off and dispose of them properly, a news release says.

The Sarasota Police Department also has a permanent drop-box in the lobby at Sarasota Police Headquarters, the release points out. The headquarters is located at 2099 Adams Lane in downtown Sarasota. The drop-box can be accessed from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week, the release adds.
