Side-arm mowing planned on Legacy Trail from Sept. 19 to Sept. 30

Areas will be closed as that work is underway, county staff cautions

From Sept. 19 to Sept. 30, Sarasota County crews will be conducting annual side-arm mowing along the entire length of The Legacy Trail, county staff announced on Sept. 16.

Thanks to the Sept. 9 opening of the North Port Connector, the Trail extends about 30 miles from North Port to downtown Sarasota.

The workers will start at the Venice Train Depot and head north, a news release says. Because of the scope of work, the Trail will be closed in the area where the side-arm mower is in use, the release adds.

“There will be intermittent openings every 20 minutes that users can wait for,” the release notes; otherwise, bicyclists and pedestrians will need to choose a different route.

During the active work dates, county staff will post daily updates on the website here. “Please plan your ride or commute accordingly,” the release adds.
