The Governing Board of the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) has adopted a proposed millage rate of 0.3131 mills for the 2018 fiscal year, the District has announced
The rate is 5.6% lower than the millage rate for the current fiscal year, a news release points out.

For the owner of a $150,000 home with a $50,000 homestead exemption, the SWFWMD tax would be $31.31 a year, or about $2.61 per month, the release notes. The 2018 fiscal year will run from Oct. 1 through Sept. 30, 2018.

The total proposed SWFWMD budget for the 2018 fiscal year is $181.6 million, the release adds. That includes more than $77 million for Cooperative Funding Initiatives and grants, the release says. With partners sharing costs to leverage SWFWMD funds, the release notes, the result will be a total regional investment of more than $151 million “for sustainable alternative water supply development and other water resource management projects.”

SWFWMD will hold a tentative budget hearing on Sept. 12 at 5:01 p.m. at the Tampa Service Office, located at 7601 U.S. Highway 301, the release points out.

The Governing Board will vote on the final budget on Sept. 26 at 5:01 p.m., at the Tampa Service Office.
