A 64-year-old Sarasota man was crossing the street near the intersection of Browning Street and U.S. 41, a news release says, but he was not walking in the crosswalk. The intersection is just north of the Sarasota Art Museum and east of the Central Park II condominium complex, a map shows.

“The driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with the investigation,” the release points out. Investigators determined that the driver was not under the influence of alcoholic beverages or drugs at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation, the release adds.
