Bicycle helmet giveaway and fitting event for children planned on April 15 at Osprey Junction Trailhead Park

Event to be held from 9 a.m. to noon

On April 15, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Osprey Junction Trailhead Park in Osprey, children and youth up to age 18 will be able get free bicycle helmets that will be fitted to them, the nonprofit Friends of the Osprey Junction Trailhead has announced.

The Friends group will host the event, a news release points out.

Children must be present to receive and be fitted for their free helmets, the release emphasizes. The limit is one helmet per child, the release notes. Additionally, a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign up a youngster to receive a free helmet, the release says.

Helmets will be given away on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, “and at the sole discretion of the Friends of Osprey Junction Trailhead,” the release points out.

The Osprey Junction Trailhead Park is located at 939 E. Bay St. in Osprey.

Friends of Osprey Junction Trailhead is a chapter of Friends of Sarasota County Parks, which is also a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in Florida, the release notes. The mission of the Friends of Osprey Junction Trailhead is to support, promote and enhance the Osprey Junction Trailhead, which is a Sarasota County Park adjacent to The Legacy Trail.
